Notes on Peruvian Ribes cuneifolium and Ribes ovalifolium (Grossulariaceae)

چکیده

The genus Ribes (Grossulariaceae) is widespread across the northern hemisphere, but also species-rich in tropical Andes. In Peruvian Andes mostly found at least seasonally moist cloud and scrub forests, subparamo habitats hedges. However, some taxa are from more extreme semi-arid of western slope (Andean scrub, ovalifolium) respectively high Andean puna paramo elevations up to 5100 m asl (Ribes cuneifolium doubtful segregates). These species share small, weakly divided leaves, making them quite atypical for genus, usually with large, deeply three- five-lobed leaves. Both geographical ranges delimitation both poorly understood. We here propose recognition only two, well-differentiated species. ovalifolium can be shown wide-ranging Ancash Tacna, covering nearly entire flank Similarly, represent a single, San Martín/La Libertad Cuzco. There considerable diversity on details indument, flower color leaf shape, no clear dividing lines permitting segregates such as incertum J.F.Macbr. exception cloud-forest populations Pasco, which we segregate new subspecies subsp. pascoense based their considerably larger leaves inflorescences.

Molecular Phylogeny and Biogeography of Ribes (Grossulariaceae), with an Emphasis on Gooseberries (subg. Grossularia)

Gooseberries are often distinguished from currants as a distinct genus (Grossularia) or subgenus (Ribes subg. Grossularia), but recent molecular phylogenetic analyses of chloroplast and nuclear data disagree as to the monophyly of this group. We report new sequence data from the 18–26S nuclear rDNA ITS and ETS regions and from the chloroplast psbAtrnH intergenic spacer that, in combination with...

Antiproliferative Properties of Embelia Ribes

Embelia ribes is a threatened woody shrub belonging to the family Myrsinaceae, which is sparsely distributed in the moist deciduous forests of the Western Ghats in India. The previous reports showed the effect of Embelin in methylcholanthrene induced fibrosarcoma in albino rats besides enhancing their survival time. Embelin provided a good support for the chemopreventive effect against Nnitroso...

Chilling requirement of Ribes cultivars

It is usually thought that adequate winter chill is required for the full flowering of many temperate woody species. This paper investigates the sensitivity of blackcurrant bud burst and flowering to natural weather fluctuations in a temperate maritime climate, and compares a range of chill models that have been proposed for assessing the accumulation of winter chill. Bud break for four contras...

Potential for Ribes Cultivation in North America

Fruit from black, red and white currants, and gooseberries (Ribes L.) were grown commercially in North America at the beginning of the 20th Century. However, when white pine blister rust (WPBR) (Cronartium ribicola J. C. Fisch.) was introduced into the new world, their cultivation was discontinued. About 825,000 t (908,000 tons) of Ribes fruit are produced worldwide, almost entirely in Europe. ...

Does the ganglion of Ribes exist?

Some have included the ganglion of Ribes (Francois Ribes, 1765-1845), lying on the anterior communicating artery, as the most superior ganglion of the sympathetic nervous system. To verify the presence of this structure, the anterior communicating artery was harvested from 40 fresh adult cadavers and histological analysis and immunochemistry performed. Grossly and with magnification, no ganglio...
